You may be onto something there emjay. In the sixties, when I was a choirboy, I used to think even then that many of the hymns we sang had ghastly, trite words. It seemed they were made to make you feel that God was a bully with an oversized ego who wanted his creations to fawn in front of him. Being old does not necessarily make something good.
