PoppaGator, other people have told me the same thing you did about technical and scientific writing, and that includes Dick Greenhaus. It's a cheery thought. :-)

Thanks to everyone for your good wishes and encouragement. I'll let you know how it goes. Now I'll print out several copies of my resume and writing samples and then get some sleep.
