I have also heard a verse that goes:

Mother, Father, dig my grave
Dig it with a golden spade
Bring some friends and a mourning dove
To show I died for love

When we learned the other verses at camp, they wouldn't let us sing this one because they thought it was too morbid for the littler kids. It's one of my favorites, though.
