While enjoying my evening repast, here in Moncton, New brunswick, Canada, I turned on the TV news. A commercial for a lottery came on. Not the usual, every third spot, Atlantic Lotto commercial advertising one hundred and seventy nine different contests which could instantly put me on easy street. It was a CNIB, Canadian Institute for the Blind, Lottery, in which I could win millions.

Could this be the start of something worth my gambling dollars? If you think health care is most important, buy the scratch and win "Operation Game". There could be variations (Lord knows the Lotto guys can dream them up) like Double Up Bypass, or Stroke Seven, or Waiting Room Roulette. If you think the military needs your money, play "Grenade Bingo." There could even be a "Snark Hunt" for a dream vacation Snark hunting in Alabama.

Best of all, if we could all agree to have these new lotteries put on the existing lottery terminals - we own them because they are publically sanctioned under the criminal code of Canada and they ARE public property when all is said and done - we could then tell all the telemarketers and door knockers go away because we bought tickets already.
