Thread Name: BS: The Anti-Christ Is Here Now!
Subject: RE: BS: The Anti-Christ Is Here Now!
Art,
Usually, religious people who refer to "The Anti-Christ" are referring to a specific, prophesied character who, it is thought, will come to worldwide popularity and be mistaken for the returned Christ. It's also thought to be one of the "signs" that the real Christ's return is "imminent." But... if you correct all of that "imminency" for some sense of the immensity of God's time, you get back to Jesus' own words that we cannot know the hour of his coming-- the idea being, be ready at all times. Sort of like some people would say, "Live today as tho you might die tomorrow."
When non-religious use the term, I think they usually mean whatever they think of as the opposite to whatever they think Christ is. I think a lot of people assume it means Satan himself.... from the posts in this thread I think the ideas have about what the term means, are all over the map.
