Living on the edge of a government site that stores radioactive (and other) waste, I too wish that the stuff didn't come NEAR a town. But that's pretty much impossible. I thought about air transport, but that would be even worse.

I wish that we had fusion reactors, I really do. They can run on nuclear waste and turn it into harmless stuff. But the US government in its infinite wisdom has pretty much shut such research down. Sigh.
