My number one nomination: King Solomon's Mines

It's an incredible story that has never been done justice to by Hollywood, although there was a reasonably good version done once with Stewart Granger in it. There was also a recent one with Patrick Swayze, I think, that was among the 10 WORST films I have ever suffered through in my life.

It's probably too much to hope for that any movie will ever be made that simply does the sensible thing, and re-enacts the original story by H. Ryder Haggard without deviating from it one iota. That would mean:

1. No female character going on the trip to darkest Africa with Allan Quatermain! And...

2. That would mean poor ticket sales!

3. Conclusion: the movie I am imagining is a movie that will never be made.

This is one of the reasons I really detest Hollywood and its whole artless, soulless attitude toward life.
