What I would do if I were the rest of the world is I would put as much of my resources as possible into creating and establishing an infrastructure for renewable energy sources that don't cause greenhouse effect problems and other environmental problems, and use economy of scale to create a large market for these things. And make a lot of money doing it. That would make the US pretty obsolete on the world stage in economic terms, and it would then be forced to play catch-up just in order to survive in the global economy. That is definitely what I would to.
