The belly button lady is probably on an anti-Syrian demo, though the captioning is ambiguous - but the blonde lady perched on a young man's shoulder in the front picture is definitely on a pro-Syrian demo. Opposition to the USA in the region is hardly confined to Islamic Islamic fundamentalists. In fact Syrian (and Lebanon) are secular states and societies - as was also the case with Iraq.

It's fair enough for people to be out of touch with the ins and outs of Lebanon and the rest of the region over the past few decades - after all, it's a big world, and it's a long way off for people in Western Europe, and especially in the USA. But it's not fair enough for Bush (and his minders and his speech writers and policy gurus) to share that condition, which is pretty evidently the situation. In fact it is incredibly dangerous.
