My Epson Stylus photo gave similar problems at first.

On Windows OS, in control panel, I set up a colour profile to get a monitor image which most closely matched what I saw in the original photo. Then set the same profile for the printer. Problem solved. There are 27 profiles to choose from, including 2 which relate specifically to Photoshop. I think it's important that monitor and printer are on the same wavelength, and particularly NOT one on CMYK, and t'other on RGB.
