Being from Atlantic City, New Jersey-home of the annual Miss America pagent, I would remind folks that for years those contestant wore high heels with bathing suits

As I haven't watched that show in quite a while, I haven't a clue if there is still a bathing suit portion of the competition and if the women are still REQUIRED to wear bathing suits with heels.

Odds are that the producers of that show are men..so who really determines which styles are fashionable or not-men or women?

I think that wearing high heels-period-feeds into men's fantasies about long legged women. Supposedly [or as a metter of fact?] wearing heels make women's legs look longer, or at the very least, emphasize women's legs.

And as to your specific point about wearing high heels with 'denims [and I presume your are refering to what we UnitedStaters call 'jeans']..I agree that it's not healthy..but when is fashion about health??

This style will be replaced by another one when the fashion gurus promote another style.

And I'll beat someone else to the point by saying that not all women follow the dictates of the fashion gurus..I for one have no problem at all with wearing a reasonable size pair of high heels with pants, but wouldn't think of wearing high heels with jeans.. Maybe it's an age thing.

I'm too old to change my feeling that high heels don't go with jeans.
But like Cats, I support any women's right to do so if she wants to- to follow the latest fashion; because she likes herself in that style, and/or to please her man or to conform to what she has been socialized to believe that men want to see..
