Assuming your memory is accurate, it looks rather as if Seeger started out with the Nova Scotia set, but mixed it up with more standard (broadside derived) texts; either deliberately or by accident. A pity, if that's the case, as some nice touches were lost; though admittedly Mr Smith had muddled the song in a few places.
