I also sing this, but to a different tune. This song is well set in Edinburugh, many "incomers" including raw police officer material moved north or south/west to the city and would be unfamiliar with a "Tuechter", or even a far north east accent. Glasgow, absorbed peoples from a larger area including many gaelic speakers from Ireland and Scotland. A tipical weegi Polis would have the gaelic mimself.
