I've just received the awful news of John's very sudden and unexpected death. He apparently had a heart attack this afternoon. Eileen was with him.

John and Eileen had fairly recently created an immensely successful and popular club in Minehead, which provided a place for local people to perform, and for some to do feature spots to stretch their skills and abilities. As funds built up, they have put on concerts with national artists.

John was well-known locally as a reciter of humorous poems, as he didn't regard himself as a singer, and was immensely supportive and proud of his wife, Eileen's ability as a singer and songwriter.

His quiet and friendly presence will be much missed around the Exmoor area.
