Thread Name: St Georges Day What are you doing?
Subject: RE: St Georges Day What are you doing?
St George's Day has a special meaning for us Germans: On this day, in the year of the Lord MDXVI the Duke of Bavaria ordered beer to be brewed with malt, hops, and water only. It is called the Purity Law and still valid today - the first food law still in use. In the open air museum about Hessian culture near my home the biggest brewery in Hessen will show historical brewing to celebrate this day and handing out lots of stones for a reasonable price. I shall attend God permitting. As a former scoutmaster I shan't exaggerate drinking to hail the saint. As a librarian I shall read a good book in the evening to celebrate Shakespeare's birthday, may be the speech about the band of brothers. As for signing: I found a fine song in the DT: Furry Day Carol. I'd like to sing this song, but don't have the tune. Can anybody help me?
