That is the circus that the Schiavo case has become. I'm sure everyone is feeling the need for some relief from that this weekend, so I thought I'd start a thread here to discuss some of the more bizarre religio-comic (in the dark sense) aspects of this fiasco.

Every morning I go to Google News to do a quick read of what the mainstream media says is going on in the world that is newsworthy (and then I end the day with The Daily Show, to keep it all in proper perspective). For real, non-partisan (ie not Democratic Party slanted like Common Dreams and AlterNet) news I read Pacific News Service, Amy Goodman's Democracy Now show, Counter Punch & Z Net. So, that should give you some idea of how I glean my news and information. I am a self-admitted news junkie.

So, have any of you seen the film "Citizen Ruth"? Because watching this right wing fanatic Republican passion play unfold over the past two weeks is absolutely ripe for parody. Today, for instance, I learned that the protestors outside the hospice are claiming that Terri Schiavo's eyes and tongue are bleeding, and that her parents latest appeals (don't you wish you had that kind of money to throw at something?) include the claim that just prior to having her feeding tube removed, Terri said "Aaaaaaah waaaaaaah" in response to their question "Do you want to live?" Which as anyone knows, means she REALLY said "I want to live" but only got as far as the "I want" part.

Perhaps another round of legal battles can now be fought over whether Terri was trying to say "Aaaaaah waaaaaah to live" or "Aaaaaaah waaaaah to die".

Also on the bizarre and frightening (and not in a good way) Schiavo news front, the FBI arrested a North Carolina man on some sort of murder conspiracy charges--who allegedly put out a bounty of $250,000 on the head of Michael Schiavo, and a $50,000 bounty bonus if you kill the judge too.

Of course, that is in addition to the political threats being made by anti-abortion extortionist Randall Terry that there would be "hell to pay" if Terri Schiavo was allowed to die.

And aren't you all happy that these are the allies of the president of the United States of America, and the movers and shakers of the majority Republican party? Imagine how they'll all be partying like the Messiah is back in town if she dies on Easter Sunday! You couldn't write a script this maudlin and dire!

Hey all you Republicans--where do you FIND these nut cases anyway? I guess this is your moment to shine in the glory of god and all that.

I'd say please stop this madness, you're scaring me but hey! We're so far beyond rationality and reason, why bother?
