What do I ask of muse, that I need fear
She would not send me smile? I am a fool
To think that dreams upset her: It is clear
She would not knowingly act to be cruel.
What do I want of muse, that I dreams hide
When they are honest image of concern?
Why do words hesitate to hopes confide,
When heart would more than just her sweet smile earn?
What do I seek of muse, that I am scared
To ask to hold her in my arms, and search
For all of heaven in her eyes? I've dared
Far more, for less: Would hopes my heart besmirch?
Yet, I cannot risk even hope of chance
That I might someday find stars in her glance.
