I have "Shut the door. Keep the devil in the night" on a recently produced CD of various reggae artists. That version really rocks!

Of course, I can't find that CD now. That would be too much like right. But I'll post the name of the CD and the artist's name
when I find it.

[And yes, I need to be more organized.]

PS.

I thought that this was originally a Caribbean song, but apparently these artists 'reggaed' the song up like they do so many other songs...

"Shut the door..." puts in words the Caribbean/Southern African American folk belief about the devil coming out at night to steal folk's souls...

The Caribbean folklore has duppies [ghosts] and the boogieman..The same one that lived in the Southern part of the USA...

Of course, the connections between West Indian folklore and African American folklore are understandable given the history and bloodlines we share..but-as they say-that is another story...
