Does it really matter whether or not a candidate looks like a cartoon character?

Don't you people know that "Politics is show business for ugly people"?

(Of course, a case could be made that folk music is the true show-biz for the unattractive ~ which is a good thing! There certainly needs to be some part of the music world where how a performer sounds is more importrant than how she/he looks.)
