As far as the names of the categories, I never thought it would be a problem. I simply use the Latin/Roman terms so it would be understood by the entire world regardless of language (i know this is wishful thinking). Iberia is not the word for the peninsula. It's Hispania. That's what the romans called it. I write for someone with a somewhat classical (not government mediocre schools) education, and everyone should have studied some latin, and in every latin book there is a map of the roman world (and in every history book as well, in case you dont know any classics) and "Hispania" is clearly used.

Current usage is tricky. . . because Spain used to include portugal, through a united crown like Scotland and England today are, which broke off to form its own country, with a distinct dialect (which is now a language of course) of latin different than spanish.

Webster's latest edition defines Hispania as "the Iberian Peninsula" http://www.m-w.com/cgi-bin/dictionary?book=Dictionary&va=hispania&x=0&y=0

Which is defined as "peninsula SW Europe between the Mediterranean & the Atlantic occupied by Spain & Portugal"

I also am sure Portugese/Brazilian people are listed as Hispanics under US Law (as they are). Portugal is part of Hispania. I mean, all those provinces in Spain today were once countries. Castile, Leon, Navarre, Catalan, etc. . . Should have to list ALL of them as seperate catagories?
