I think the government is involved at the moment because of the differing opinions of the industry and women who have had the gel implants done or wish to. It is not really a case of the government meddling. The Feds had shut down the gel implants because of complaints and are now re-reviewing the issue since the industry says it has come up with a safer and more reliable product. At the same time, there are women who are testifying with their horror stories and on the other side of the aisle are women who have had great results and are saying that the alternative - saline solution - that had been approved by the Feds is not as good or safe as the prohibited gel.

I don't have an opinion yea or nay in the case of vanity augmentations, but I do know that for women who have had breast cancer and want to equalize the two sides and for women who NEED breast reductions it can be a sanity saver.
