John, there were two companies presenting claims to reissue their silicone breast implants. In the recommendations forwarded to the FDA, one company was allowed to, the other wasn't. The FDA can say yes or no to the recommendations. The data presented by the successful company didn't run as long as that presented by the unsuccessful one, but it was apparently more convincing. I'm not convinced by this that either one has good data--its routine for companies to present data in their favor. I would want to know who produced it and who paid for it before I accepted any of it as useful.
