As one on the other side - we love it when you file your taxes early. March 31st/April 5th are popular dates, being the end of the quarter/tax year so we (in the UK, and specifically my office) get something like 4000 returns a week between 20 of us. That's a lot of paper. We presently have no overtime budget, no extra help drafted in and we have a 2 week backlog of returns to capture, thus meaning we've failed to meet our target of 98% returns logged/captured same day.

(Don't worry BritCats, it's company tax not Self Assessment - THEY get help from other departments, an overtime budget and lots of publicity).

So please, if you're still assessing yourself up to the day before it's due, think of the poor clerk whose job it is to wade through all your scribblings whilst the clock ticks relentlessly onwards.....
