Biloxi-Jesse Winchester,Ted Hawkins or Iain Matthews Marblehead Neck-Cindy Kallet Quiet Village-Danny Gatton (with or without Tom Principato)or Martin Denny Sand In My Shoes-The Drifters Ukulele Lady- Jim Kweskin Jug Band Happiest Days Of All-The Carter Family White Silver Sands-Frank Wakefield (or Brother Dave Gardner, for that matter!) Albatross-Fleetwood Mac Wipeout!-The Ventures (or was it The Surfaris? Or both?) ....and a couple of things by Gabby Pahanui or The Sons Of Hawaii spaced into the mix at decent intervals.Throw in a Bossa Nova guitar instrumental, and some Jan&Dean shake and stir and serve in generous proportions
Now, when you say Beach Music down in the Carolinas, you're liable to discover that people think you're talking about the old R&B people down there, especially blacks, used to listen to when they were at the beach. A used record store in Carolina east of the nountains will have a large section marked Beach Music whrer you have almost as goodb a chance of finding good-time good-feeling R&B and Some soul as in the R&B section (where all the sadder, hard core bluesier stuff still resides. Beach Music denotes a feeling down there rather than any water or sand content.
All for now, Severn
