Thread Name: a strap for my bodhran?
Subject: RE: a strap for my bodhran?
My bodhran has a well featured rim because it has a toggle-based tuning system, and the end of the skin is a roll of leather with more thong type binding. This means that it grips my cloths and doesn't slide so much as the smaller one that has only domed panel-pins. The height of the single bar is crucial, and the fact that it is flat means less bite on hand. Which means I can play standing up for sessions and move my hand around a bit. I don't play for concerts etc so it does for me. Maybe velcro hooks round the circumference may help you - particularly if you wear a pile jacket or woolly jumper - not altogether silly and I'm sure you get the idea.

But, yes I have seen bodhran straps on film or on stage - but never in sessions. I would have thought the making of them was simple enough, and the placing a few months of experimentation.
