Thread Name: Lyr Req: The Christening (Arthur Askey)
Subject: Lyr Req: Arthur Askey's The Christening
I mentioned this one about a year ago in another thread, but now I have real need. S & I have been asked to be Godparents, we've pointed out that we will both be pushing 90 by the time the babe is 21, but they say that doesn't matter.
As I have said in other places, I don't often sing in public now, but if I can find the words of this I may make a exception. Arthur Askey had a song called 'The Christening' and all I remember is the beginning and the end:-

At our church on Sunday morn,
Hush are you listening,
We had a christening,
Little pink kid quite small, brand new
And it was some christening too.

Ending...
And the same thing happened to me and you
And it was some christening too!

Somewhere in the middle was a line

'Kid made a noise like a small typhoon'

I'd really like to get hold of this one, I could probably adjust the character list to suit the occasion.
