No wonder if many are not familiar with the term. Oddly, there doesn't seem to be any Anglo or Saxon or even Romance word for it. (I haven't checked into Slavic yet.) "Cannibal" comes from a Carib indian term. Far as I can tell, all the Romance and Germanic languages use some variation of the Greek, anthropopagus. Makes me wonder what the Greeks were about that was different from the rest of Europe.
