'Spaw, my family and I LOVE that movie. We have watched it several times a year since 1989. We've watched it so much we have whole scenes memorized word for word. I too was greatly saddened to hear about Jean Shephard's death. There will never be another humorist like him. We own "In God We Trust, All Others Pay Cash." We had it out from a library several years ago, and had been searching for it in book stores ever since. We did actually find it at an antique store--we count it as a miracle--that it was put there purpously for us to find! Last summer, I read the book to my family. We LOVE the parts about night fishing in Indiana, and the escapes of the movie give-aways, and the fourth of July rockets. Jean Shepherd had such a rich and descriptive vocabulary, I think he can be put up there with Charles Dickens for the way in which he painted with words. I sorely miss him...
