Subject: RE: Song Links 2 (England-US)
A very lively review, Countess Richard, well done- and thanks for the kindly mention. Yes, I love coming back to England, have great memories of my sojourns throughout the country in the 1950s, when singers sang at normal speed and mostly without accompaniment. I had a Fulbright scholarship, to find and compare my Appalachian family's songs with their forebears, or coexisting variants in "The Old Country." So many good friends we made, and endless miles of songs now sleeping as fragile, dusty tapes on our shelves. We're working of course to get them preserved, but who knows how much time there is?Age, a terrorist attack, falling downstairs, choking on a poisoned apple (i.e. Sleeping Beauty!). But we love our work and our life and aim to keep on keeping on while we can. So- someday you and I may meet in England, joining in the same chorus! Joy and blessings, Jean PS: I'm sorry- but must stop because hundreds of different stories leap to mind and cannot be told here...
