And I completely agree with you that many substances can cause toxic reactions in some children. I've had many patients have severe allergic or other adverse reactions to medications I prescribed, some of which were taken orally and some injected. That's certainly unfortunate, and even tragic--but it does not make me stop prescribing the medications to other children who need them. It just reminds me to be careful when prescribing medicine, because you can never predict with 100% certainty what the result will be. Life is a dangerous place to live. And it's a wonderful place, too.
