Folks who don't understand that concept are the same ones that cause much pain. They deal in absolutes in a world that is not made for such things. Examples can be found everywhere. The Body of Christ is the community from which worship springs. I am not going to be driven out of my community just because I don't agree on every point. It is only when the Pope speaks from an infallible position that I am forced into that position. John Paul, while having many points of view that I disagreed with, didn't put me in that position. And he was remarkably consistent. It is my belief that if one wants absolutes, then they must accept that the death penalty is just as wrong as abortion. If not, according to those who post above, then they cannot be Roman Catholic. I see it in politics where folks will abandon the party that represents 90% of what they believe in, over the 10%. This shows a lack of understanding of how the world works.   I would rather stay in my community, be it religious, political, or otherwise, and be known as a person of principle who will fight to change that which I believe to be wrong. In doing so, within my Church, I believe that I am following the example of The Christ.
