Something does not have to be old for it to be traditional...Is the song "Chastity Belt" a traditional song? How about "Five Constipated Men of the Bible"? These all seem to be modern traditional songs which have been learned and passed on by oral tradition.Maybe 'Eat, Bite, Fuck, Suck' is not sung by *your* folk and the people you know. Ah, but do all groups share identical songs? Some groups specialise in bawdry (e.g., rugby players) but their songs are traditional to the extent that they sing their songs and pass them on to the next generation of rugby players who continue to sing them.
At different times and places one could have been convicted of obscenity for singing one of the songs above. Remember Burl Ives was arrested for singing "The Foggy, Foggy Dew" at which no one today would bat an eyelash.
I find it odd that people who object to this song (and the title) post to this thread and cause the objectional song (and title!) to be listed first in the thread list. If you object to this thread, DO NOT POST as then the thread will disappear.
As I say in my initial post:
Please don't post "dreadful song" or "worst song written" as you are not helping.
