Subject: RE: Beach Music
In Australia, especially Queensland, "Beach music" usually meant the records (or the Radio station playing the appropriate music) that were piped over the loudspeakers from the local Surf Lifesavers Club House for the enjoyment of the nearby populace. It was the trend for those camping at the beach or nearby to stroll along the shore in the evening to escape the heat of the day. Raffle wheels were often set up for fund raising.
Beach Boys & instrumentals - "Wipe Out" & other more languid tunes were popular - when the Beatles invaded, it began to be the end.
