Since I've had to return to my stereo, www.red hot jazz.com, morning newsapaper, and the little used television over the last couple of weeks to get my "music, humour and wit fix of the day", I've re-discovered the astonishingly well-written series "Yes Minister".
When I saw the photo in the paper this morning of Gerry Adams holding the bugging device placed in his car, I thought I would bust a gut. He has a look on his face that implies: "How COULD they? I REALLY trusted them! Gosh (or faith and begorrah) Why can't we all just get along!"
I can just picture the Minister (or Prime Minister) huddled in a panic session, begging Sir Humphrey to find the proper spin that might lessen the embarrassment.(With Bernard, of course piping up pedantically with definitions of the word "is".)
Not sure if there's any interest on Mudcat for this kind of thread anymore, but if anyone DOES have the inclination, I'd love to hear your feedback on this wonderful show.
