sonnet 182 of 237 to my muse...

Sonnet 11/10/04                           CMXXXVI

I give my muse sweet roses, to sweep tears
From eyes I long to see. Still, might I pray
That she will find her smile? Can I chase fears
From dream, with thorn and leaf , at least this day?
I give my muse a necklace, kiss by kiss
Upon her soft, sweet skin. I circle round,
But find no place to stop. Lips will not miss
The chance to touch what in my dreams I've found.
I give my muse my heart, and hope to find
I hold at least her hand. I do not know
Just how I feel: With what runs through my mind,
How can I tell if I would let her go?
All that I give does not win me desires:
It is her smile that provides passion's fires.
