"Mudcat is a subculture"
It has many facets and aspects of subculture. Not all, but close enough for folk.
'Subcultural rhetoric "imitates the attitudes, values, dispositions, and norms of dominant cultural rhetoric, yet it claims to enact them better than members of the dominant culture." It is one of the final culture categories, which are a subtexture of social and cultural texture. One type of this rhetoric is ethnic rhetoric.'
'a social group within a national culture that has distinctive patterns of behavior and beliefs'
'Broad Definition: A group within society that shares some of the beliefs, values, and norms or the larger culture but also has some that are distinctly its own.
Narrow definition:"A group with a relatively cohesive cultural system that differs from the dominant culture in such things as language, values, religion, and style of life."'
