In my own words?
We failed to interdict the movement of terrorists into Iraq during and after the war. We failed to detain those Iraqis that had supported Saddam. We failed to persuade the rest of the Arab world that we did not intend to remain in Iraq.
What we SHOULD have done was stand outside the border, and when Saddam refused to comply with the UN resolutions back in 1994 nuc'ed the entire country into glass. THEN we would have NO US causualties, and the Left would be happy.
