My son (Mudcatter, indieman) is having his graduation ceremony today. He is graduating from the University of Utah with a bachelor of fine arts in filmmaking. I couldn't be there to see it, but this is a huge moment for both of us. He has ADHD and a specific learning disability, and it was a very gruelling process getting him to the point where he could not only function effectively in an academic setting, but to even flourish there. (He was classified by the people who test for these kinds of things as "gifted/learning disabled". Many teachers have a difficult time figuring out how to best serve people who are "gifted/LD".) So today is the culmination of a long and difficult process, and that makes this victory very, very sweet.
His paternal grandmother has given him a European tour as a graduation present, so I anticipate that he is going to have a very interesting and educational summer.
