Thanks to all - I got another e-mail from the source of the concern who thought he had added a leading space in the address box. So that can be covered. Now to see successes

and thanks to mack/misophist who knows about these things - test 5 seems to be missing - was this the PM?
- test 1 (linux OS Opera 7.54) - test 2 (linux OS Konqueror 3.2.1 browser *site does not display well with this browser but all necessary bits seem to be there) - test 3 (linux OS Mozilla Firefox 1.0.2) -test 4 (linux OS Epiphany 1.0.4 browser * site badly displayed. Half seems to be missing.) - [ml sent this another way] - test 6 (linux OS Mozilla 1.6 # the only odd thing is that it took 6 or 7 tries to move the cursor into the address field)
Given that most of the cleverness is JavaScript and either un-necessary (like day of month) or there to fool the spammers (who have gone into hiding) I may take the JavaScript out. It can go back if there is a plague of spam. I do ponder on Tanny's time anomally (=day rollover I think) - maybe I should consider 12/24 clock issues for other pages, but remove it for this. Sticks thumb in mouth and WAILS.
I will make changes in a day or two - maybe I will get more clues by then.
