Sonnet 31/10/04                           CMXLIX

How might I fill my muse's night, to give
You thought of something you might want to do?
I should not try: But I would in dreams live,
And find if any of dreams might come true.
I want to keep you company, but know
The distance keeps me from holding you near.
Thinking of you, all of my longings grow,
But without sight of eyes, I future fear.
My heart is willing, but the flesh is weak:
I cannot stay awake. Though I regret
Giving up time with you, I should not speak
When not awake: I might my muse upset.
Sleep well, dear one, and know I love, and care:
Find in your dream what would win smile, and share.
