Guest, perplexed: Your LOGICAL thinking leaves out a lot of other possibilities. Like taxes are low enough but the cost of health care is so high that neither individuals or employer's can afford it.

And, yes, let's look at Canada. While you are reporting anecdotal evidence, the facts are that Canada spends about half as much per capita on health care as the U.S. does and they have a higher life expectancy and a much lower infant mortality rate.
