I think about my muse, and know I care
Far more than might be wise. How can I be
All I desire, when I cannot hopes share,
Nor can dreams find the way to her dreams see?
If reason leads away, I cannot go,
To leave my dreams bereft of life: I try
To reach for understanding, but I know
I have no hold on her to force reply.
What can my longing win, when dreams must stay
Apart from life? I seek her heart, but feel
I should not ask for my sweet muse to say
Whether I might ever make my dreams real.
I want her smile, yet truly I want more:
How can I joy and glow in eyes restore?
