My theory is that you should give a girl some fancy clothes while she's growing up. Perhaps that way she won't spend her childhood longing for her wedding day, because that is the only day when she is beautiful and important.

So give her a pretty dress for Christmas, for Easter or a concert. Don't have her live her whole life in jeans and T-shirts. It will pay off in self-esteem later on.

I'm convinced that many of the young brides I deal with are far more interested in the wedding than in the marriage.
