Bought this book, by Sharyn McCrumb, for a quarter, partly
because I cracked up to see this title in a church rummage
sale. Turned out to be really funny. But the reason I had
the urge to mention it here, is the opening:

    "The visiting Scottish folksinger peered out of the
elevator into the hotel lobby. When he pushed the button
marked "G", he naturally assumed that he would arrive at
the ground floor....Now he wasn't so sure. Things were
different in America, but he hadn't realized they were
*this*different. Perhaps "G" stood for Ganymede...A pale
blue blonde stepped on to the elevator...."

(The hotel is largely taken up by a Science Fiction
fan convention).
