Since our last posting we watched the news on TV. In the space of less than a minute we heard both Frist and Bush say exactly the same thing which was, "All we're asking is that they be given the up or down vote they deserve." They have clearly rehearsed this lie.

Of all the people who could have been nominated as federal judges, surely Bush could have found people who could easily get approval of 60% of the senate. In fact he found 200 others who were approved. Anyone who cannot get approval of 60% of the senate should not be appointed. For nearly 200 years, advice and consent was taken to mean a 60% approval. Now, since the republicans aren't getting everything they want, they will change the rules. We remember doing this on the playground when we were kids but we grew up.

Changing the rules to suit them is a republican pattern. They did it for Tom DeLay, for Enron, and to pass the medicare drug benefit.
