I beg to differ. Bush IS stupid -- catastophically out of touch with any reality that does not blend well with his cartoon universe and its Manichean skin-tones. He is intentionally ignorant of culture and literacy, which is a stupid choice to make; he is an ex-habitue of cocaine which is an extraordinarily stupid decision to make even among the young; he is convinced he is gifted by an imaginary playmate he calls God, which is downright hallucinatory. Don't give me that "he's not stupid". He may be an artful dodger, facile at using artful deceit to cover up his destructiveness, a good sneak and a talented slimeball; but some of our most psychotic characters in history have been simiularly artful and able thus to grasp large chunks of unmerited power. But by any measure of discrimination, attentiveness, awareness of areas of information, ability to see into realities, he's about as intelligent as a copperhead.
