Not being Canadian, or living there or with more than a handful of Anglophone Canadian relatives what would be the effect on Canada if Quebec became an independent, soveriegn country?

What would become of the non Francophone inhabitants of Quebec (I understand it is illegal to have shop signs not in French)?

Does Quebec have the resources to survive or prosper as an independent country?
