It is not illegal to have signs not in French, It is illegal to have English only signs. We will survive but what about the rest of Canada, If Quebec become independent, since Ontario and BC will have to pay for the rest of Canada, they would probably leave also, If Quebec Separate Canada Will die. Why do you think they spent so much money in Commendite during th 1995 Referendum. Naturally the non Francophone inhabitants of Quebec will be Home also. Quebec French and English Speaking people are very close, majotity of Quebecer are Bilingual including my 3y/o. About the signs, what would you say if tomorow you go to Home Depot and everybody speaks Spanish and all the sighs are in Spanish and all the Associates are Spanish and don't speak English at all. That was the problem in Quebec and they had to make a law about it. I can tell you that in a near Future USA will have to make a law just like Quebec did to protect the language.
