Ebbie, all that's free in Maine's largest two papers is a notice with name, town, age, date of death, time and place of visitation & services. You want more, you pay. And according to their guidelines, the paper I had the problems with now only accepts paid obituaries from funeral homes, so if you want to write your own, you then have to get the funeral home to submit it. It's a sad state of affairs.
