Thread Name: BS: How does your culture do obituaries ?
Subject: RE: BS: How does your culture do obituaries ?
My mom died in December in Florida, at the age of 82. She was born in Detroit and lived there until 1958, so my dad wanted to put an obituary notice in the Detroit News, along with one in the local Florida paper. I don't know if he did or not. I have the impression that my parents' generation is much fussier about the contents of an obituarly notice, so I think I'd check with somebody from that generation before publishing the obituary for somebody that age. My generation seems much less concerned about such things, so I'd say that "anything goes" for us.

I admit that I check the Sacramento obits every day. Once or twice a month or more, I'll see a name I know; and it's nice to be aware of the passing of old acquaintances.
